In addition to lifestyle family sessions, I also offer documentary family photography in London and North Kent.

What is documentary family photography?

When we talk about documentary family photography, we talk about a style that focuses more on storytelling than portrait. The images are there to preserve a family’s life story.

There are no direct poses, carefully crafted colour coded clothing or perfect lighting, only real-life, mundane, candid shots. The results are original scenes, intimate moments, memories of specific instances that the family will cherish for years to come.

So, these type of sessions are pure reportage photoshoots where I don't direct you at all. I'll be there to observe your daily family life and tell your story with beautiful images.

What to expect from documentary family photography?

When you book a documentary session with me, I will spend around three hours (half a day) with you and your family.

During this time I will not direct or pose you at all. I will use my extensive experience to photograph natural moments of you all together, which will create a beautiful memory of your lives:  If you're reading with the children, I'll observe and photograph your reactions to the story, if your family are playing together, I'll notice the reactions( joy or frustration!).  It's the little things that matter, the one that will make you smile in years to come.

Before the session, I'll send you a questionnaire to find out a bit more about you and your family, what a normal da looks like and what activities you like doing together, at home or outside.

After the session, you can expect to see your images in 2 weeks time via a private online gallery. You'll get all the images presented (minimum of 40 photos), in high and small resolution, a slideshow video and a beautiful handmade photobook 12 x 8 containing up to 40 images.

The difference between this and my lifestyle sessions is that this is specifically designed to tell your story hence, the package includes all the images (+40).
